Chamonix-Mont-Blanc is the ski resort in the French Alps where
the real alpine skiing and winter sports happen every winter and spring. Chamonix is the legendary mountain resort of France where first class skiers, snowboarders and mountaineers meet to face the most extreme ski slopes, snowboarding pistes and the most adrenaline full mountain climbing spots. Chamonix was the host of the filming team of James Bond, where an extreme ski scene was recorded for the 007 "The World is not Enough" movie.
Chamonix is surrounded by extraordinary alpine environments which take you with your mind to the Himalayan landscapes. In the French Alps of Chamonix one can admire the serpent form of a glacier an its deep crevasses. Since the 18th century, Chamonix and the Mont-Blanc massive has been a summer holiday destination, developing into a winter holiday destination from 1903 on. In 1924 Chamonix hosted the first edition of the Winter Olimpics. In 1965, a tunnel has been built under the Mont-Blanc, linking Chamonix to Curmayeur in Italy. The tunnel crosses the rock massive right below the Aiguille du Midi peak.
