Les Grands Montets skiing area is located between 1235 and 3300 meters altitude in the French Alps, near Chamonix. The area has open large spaces for skiing and snowboarding.
Les Grands Montets pistes are distributed over three mountain slopes (Argentiere glacier, Lognan and Le Pedant) and offers off-piste skiing and snowboarding possibilities. One can ski and snowboard along the Argentiere glacier till late May. For the freestyle lovers, the area has a new snowpark and boradercross near the Lognan Cable Car.
The Lognan and Grands-Montets Cable Cars are closed for the summer period. These lift facilities start working around 5th of December when the winter season starts on Chamonix Valley.
From the village of Argentiere one can take the Lognan Cable Car up to 1972 m station and afterwards the Les Grands Montets Cable Car to reach the summit at 3300 altitude. Les Grands Montets area is famous for its exceptional vertical slopes, for the skiing pistes and glacier skiing. The skiing slopes of this area are open until late May due to geographical positioning, altitude and artificial snow.
On top of Bochard and Herse ski-lifts there is a very steep and glacier skiing surface. We advise you not to go off-piste and keep skiing or boarding only on the marked and controlled areas. The Buchard and Herse lifts are above the glacier and skiing after heavy snow fall might be risky since avalanche can occur.
Buchard ski-lift makes the Le Lavancher are accessible for skiers.
